Life Sciences and Bioproducts

The Ontario government supports the development of life sciences, which are taking products and services in exciting new directions that will benefit the agri-food and rural economy.

Life Sciences is the practice of developing new or alternative products and services from renewable biological materials - animal, plant or biosolid - and has roots that reach back thousands of years. Using yeast to leaven bread and make beer are just two ancient examples of life sciences in practice.

Now, life sciences hold great potential for business expansion and job creation in rural areas, in addition to safeguarding food quality and the environment.
