Thank you for your interest in the Rural Summer Jobs Service Program.

The 2009 Rural Summer Jobs Service Program application intake is now closed and no longer accepting applications.

Each applicant has now been mailed a letter regarding approvals to the 2009 Rural Summer Jobs Service program. If you have applied to the program and have not received a letter by July 2009, please contact:

What's new for the 2009 program:

A Student Checklist for Eligibility:

  • Along with the letter of positions funded under the Rural Summer Jobs Service, employers will also receive a Student Checklist for Eligibility. This form will need to be completed by each student the employer has received approval for.
  • The Student Checklist for Eligibility must be submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs by July 15, 2009.

A change to the eligibility age for students:

  • Students hired under the program can now be between the ages of 14 to 30.

A new fax number:

  • When submitting a Claim form or Student Checklist for Eligibility by fax, please fax to 519-826-3398.

Each eligible employer will receive a copy of the 2009 Claim form and the Student Checklist for Eligibility with their approval letter. (Downloadable forms are available at the bottom of this page).

Important Dates:

April 1st, 2009: First day of subsidized employment
July 15th, 2009: Deadline for Student Checklist for Eligibility
Sept 30th, 2009: Last day for subsidized employment for student positions
Oct 16th, 2009: Deadline for submission of Employer Claim forms

The goal of the Rural Summer Jobs Service is to help create jobs which enhance the skills and work experience of students in rural Ontario. The program provides financial assistance to employers creating jobs for students between the ages of 14 and 30.

This program is part of the Ontario government's Ontario Summer Jobs Strategy to assist students across Ontario.
